About
I wanted to do something of value during those uncertain early days of COVID. Like many, I didn’t have spare cash in my back pocket to donate to charity, so it had to be something I could offer through my time and energy. I knew Rupert (of Womersley Foods) had a list of local retail outlets that were still managing to provide services, so I began by having a look.
Then, as if by telepathy, Rupert phoned and asked Mike if he would consider building a website. And just like that, Mike was pulled into the project. Our initial aim was to create a hub of genuinely useful information, freely available to everyone – even my mum, who isn’t online. It was designed to cover urgent needs during the crisis and provide reassurance at a time when connection was vital.
What began as a response to COVID soon developed into something more lasting: a platform to support our local retailers, small businesses, and community projects – not just in emergencies, but as a way of strengthening local ties and making everyday life a little easier.
I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who helped and contributed along the way. It wouldn’t have happened without a whole heap of wonderful people. This wasn’t about advertising – it was about community sharing and caring.
I (Jenny) am writing this because I’m the one filling in the fields, but the thanks go to:
Rupert, Mike, Laura, Paul, Georgia, Gordon, Laetisia, Lexy, Rizvana, and Sandra of Chippy Town Council.
